Map your watch

All watch types are welcome on Ourwatch

Cover Watch, A social media based area watch, which can be connected to street-based watches

You’ll need permission from us to start such a watch and must read the Social media Cover watch policy to understand the scope of such a watch scheme.

Size of street-watch area

Your watch area, must not exceed the local area, e.g. a local park, street, housing blocks, housing estate.

Once you have registered and drawn up your watch area, you require our permission to have it shown to the public. Verify your membership here. All coordinators must participate in an induction session.

Dog Watch, Register and map your watch for others to see and join you. Go to Ourwatch, map your watch as Dog watch …………name of area. Draw the map area.

Business Watch, Register and map your watch for others to see and join you. Go to Ourwatch map your watch as Business watch ………….name of area. Draw the map area.

CCTV Watch, Register and map your watch for others to see and join you. Go to Ourwatch, map your watch as CCTV watch …………. name of area. Draw the map area.

If you can think of any other type of watch please approach us.

This is how your mapped watch will appear to the general public. People can see the area and decide whether to apply to join your watch or start their own. There is no restriction on watch areas other than that it has to be a manageable size. E.g. tower blocks can be one watch, a street of shops or shopping centre area can be a watch, part of a park can be a dog watch area, please ask if you have questions.

We also advice watch groups to register with OWL because the Met Police chooses to send all their messages via this messaging service. Please note that OWL registration will not automatically list your watch on the Ourwatch website.
